OUR MISSION
Eco Africa Social Ventures is committed to developing crafting infrastructures within which communities of women in Zimbabwe are empowered with income-generating skills and sustained with essential quality of life support for their families. OUR VISIONIn 2008 the City Council of Chitungwiza donated 8.5 acres of land to Eco Africa’s crafting artisans on which to build a unique Crafting, Art and Design Center.
With help from Eco Africa Social Ventures in New York, its sister charity in Zimbabwe Eco Africa Charitable Trust, and concerned citizens and organizations from around the world, the Center will become a Mecca within which many Zimbabwe artistic and crafting communities will participate to showcase their work and help them to support themselves and each other.
We will build workshops for our paper-makers and paper crafters, an exhibition hall where crafters from Zimbabwe can showcase their work on a rotating basis - a school of design and crafting - food growing gardens - kitchens - a day care center - a Shona sculpture garden, and a visitors guest house where crafters and other guests from around the world can stay, share and contribute.
Eco Africa Social Venture's vision is to provide a center for the rebirth of Zimbabwe’s extraordinary communities of artists and crafters.
